About the event

Tanner Dawson (Chase, BC) is a rising star in British Columbia and in the Canadian Country Music Association. As a young artist, he is working hard both in the studio as well as on the road to build his following and share his music with as many people possible!

In mid-2016, Dawson hit the road as a solo artist, playing acoustic shows in both British Columbia and Alberta. In early 2017, Dawson earned a semi-finalist spot in the “Road to Rocking Riverfest Contest” and met front man and producer, Daylen James (Grovedale, AB). The two instantly hit it off, though it wasn’t until later that year that James offered Dawson the opportunity to record three demos at the CATO recording arts centre in Kelowna, BC. In the following eight months, James and Dawson began performing in each others respective bands. In 2018 James made the move to British Columbia, living with Dawson. This time together was used to write, rehearse, gig, and develop their studio works further.

Come the summer of 2018, a lot changed for Dawson. With the goal of furthering his career, Dawson officially team up with James and fellow artist Shawna Palmer (Abbotsford, BC) creating a new trio, Tennessee Walker. While each member played a large part creatively, Dawson handled the business end, managing bookings, promotion, and many other behind the scenes aspects of the band. In the end all the hard work paid off, Tennessee Walker’s first year did exactly what the trio had hoped, it opened a lot of doors for all three artist. By the winter of 2019 Dawson had played a total of 116 shows with Tennessee Walker, including opening for acts such as Aaron Pritchett and Gord Bamford. By the end of 2019, Tennessee Walker had established a very widespread following. This presented Dawson the ability to re-focus and bring back his solo career in 2020.

In early 2020, Dawson began working with Chris “Hollywood” Holmes, a very decorated producer who has worked with many big names ranging from Korn to Katy Perry. After Dawson pitched Holmes a variety of songs in December 2019, they settled on what would be Dawson’s debut single: “The Man You Make Me (Wanna Be)”. In June of 2020 the single was ready for release to radio. Holmes and Dawson moved forward planning a follow up single to be released in early 2021. While things were taking shape in the studio, it was time for Dawson to re-build his band for the coming year. This all began by bringing in drummer and band-leader, Randy Sherman (Kelowna, BC). Sherman formerly toured across Canada with Metal/Punk band, “The Murderous” in the early 2000’s, and has worked as a freelance drummer and sound engineer for numerous touring bands across Canada. The next addition was lead guitarist, Chad Aurat (Abbotsford, BC). Aurat began his career under the wing of Mitch Merritt and got to know Dawson while playing in Tennessee Walker. The final additions consisted of bassist, Darren Jones (Kamloops, BC) and rhythm/lead guitarist, Tyler Stittle (Kamloops, BC).

With two singles ready to release on the horizon and brand new live performances built to rock fans across the country, Dawson has high hopes for the coming seasons. Dawson plans to continue his work and reach his goal on becoming a successful country music artist
